Program Approval
The Department of Chemistry has “approved” status from the American Chemical Society. This recognition is granted to less than one-quarter of the nation’s colleges and universities. The ACS promotes excellence in chemistry education for undergraduate students through approval of baccalaureate chemistry programs. ACS approval is based upon such factors as the number and academic qualifications of the faculty, 基础和深入的课程和实验课程, instrumentation, library holdings, 行政支持, budgets, 研究的机会, and lab space. ACS-approved programs offer a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals.
